Top 5 Abandoned Places in Gorzów Wielkopolski – Urbex

Gorzów Wielkopolski and Lubuskie hide some of the most extraordinary abandoned places in Poland — a secret Soviet city that didn’t appear on any maps for half a century, neo-Gothic palaces of the Prussian nobility, and deserted former German villages. Here are the 5 best abandoned places in Gorzów, selected from our Urbex Poland Map1000+ GPS locations across Poland.

Why is Lubuskie unique for urbex?

Lubuskie is a region on Poland’s western border, where Prussian palaces, secret Soviet bases, and former German villages create an urban exploration landscape unlike any other in Poland — three layers of history in one voivodeship, where Polish, German, and Soviet influences have clashed for centuries.

📍 All the locations below can be found on our Urbex Poland Map — GPS coordinates, access ratings, condition of sites, and explorers’ reports.

1. Pstrąże – The Polish Pripyat, Secret Soviet City from 1901 (Known Location)

Built by the Germans in 1901 as a military base, taken over by the Red Army on February 10, 1945 — for nearly half a century it did not appear on any maps, inhabited by up to 15,000 soldiers and their families, with a cinema, theater, and swimming pool. Abandoned on April 10, 1993. Residential blocks were demolished, but military infrastructure and underground tunnels are still accessible — called by visitors "the Polish Pripyat."

⚠️ The area borders an active military training ground. Unexploded ordnance may be present. Entry is officially forbidden.

2. Palace in Drwalewice from 1875 – Neo-Gothic Residence of the von Eichmann Family with Mausoleum (Known Location)

A neo-Gothic English-style residence built in 1875 by the von Eichmann family — a square tower transitioning into an octagonal one, a loggia with a terrace, the Eichmann family coat of arms above the entrance, and two stone griffins flanking the door. In the nearby forest, 350 meters from the palace, stands a burial chapel in ruins, which until recently contained the Eichmann family coffins. Converted into a state agricultural farm (PGR) after 1945 — devastated after its collapse in 1991.

4. Former German Village with Half-Timbered Houses – Cemetery with German Tombstones, Lubuskie Land (Exclusive on our Map)

A village practically depopulated after the expulsion of Germans in 1945 and never fully resettled by Polish settlers — a few half-timbered houses still standing, an evangelical church from the late 19th century closed for decades, and a cemetery with German inscriptions overgrown by ivy and birch forest. One of several such villages in Lubuskie, difficult to find even on Google Maps. Exact location available on our Urbex Poland Map.

5. Abandoned Jute Spinning Mill from the 1930s – Weaving Looms and Chimney Over the City, Gorzów (Exclusive on our Map)

Built in the 1930s as a jute spinning mill — a large production hall with original weaving looms still in place, a brick chimney visible above the roofs of neighboring tenement houses, and offices with documentation from the Reich and the Polish People’s Republic scattered on the floor. Gorzów was an important textile industry center — closed after 1989 when competition from cheaper imports made the mill unprofitable. Exact location available on our Urbex Poland Map.
