URBEX FRANCE
But how do you find abandoned places to do urbex in France or elsewhere? We've all asked ourselves this question at least once. So we try many different strategies, but we spend a lot of time on it...
Carte-urbex.com is a search facilitator for urbex practice, created by experienced enthusiasts within a legal company.
More concretely, we search for abandoned places all over the world, and we offer you to buy the GPS coordinates of these places individually, by departments or by regions usable in Google Maps.
Do you want to find the best urbex spots near you? Here is the best way to see what our maps look like and how to access them with our Free Urbex Map!
Join Facebook groups and browse Instagram
Social networks can be a real goldmine of information to find urbex locations. Just join urbex Facebook groups in your region to find spot ideas!
You can join our Facebook Group to share your explorations, photos, or even find an exploration partner!
Instagram is a perfect tool to find clues about places. Just search for photos by typing #urbex or #urbexlille or others. You can easily find photos of abandoned places in your region. Then, the author may have given other clues about the place directly in the post. Check if the photo is pinned to a specific location, analyze the hashtags and the post text. Many clues can be found this way.
Observe
It seems obvious, yet... We spend so much time on our smartphones that we sometimes forget to look up. We all remember seeing abandoned places in our region at some point. Why not dig into your childhood memories to try to find a spot that reminds you of something? Don’t hesitate to walk around the streets of your region and observe carefully. You will definitely find something!
Browse blogs that talk about urbex
A technique you have probably already tried is to search for urbex blogs on the Internet. Then just search by region or carefully analyze the photos. Sometimes, some photos can provide real clues, sometimes even showing visible addresses: newspaper, invoice, postcard, etc.
Don’t hesitate to type “urbex blog and your region” to refine your search and find concrete information.
Exchange spots
Admit it, you have already tried to contact someone to get information about a place. Know that it can be really annoying to receive requests like that. Some people receive dozens of requests as soon as they post a new location... You wouldn’t want to go through the same, right? However, also know that this person is like you and is also looking for other spots. So it can be a good opportunity to offer to exchange information about a spot you have already explored and that they have chosen. With this method, you could really get more precise information. However, don’t overuse it... Urban exploration requires respecting rules of good conduct!
Browse Google News
More and more media outlets like to write articles on the topic of urbex. And to find these articles, Google News is the tool you need! Open Google, then click on News. Then try typing keywords like abandoned, disused, neglected, etc. You can refine your search by adding your city or region. You will see that you will quickly find urbex places!
Google Earth is your friend
We all know Google Earth but we don’t necessarily use it regularly. Launch the tool and try to find places by browsing the map. If you have applied some of the steps explained above, you will have spot ideas without necessarily knowing the exact location. In that case, browse the region looking for that place on Google Earth!
