WYSTERIA RETIREMENT HOME

The Wysteria Retirement Home estate, nestled on the outskirts of Toulouse, has a rich and complex history. Originally designed as a specialized hospitalization unit for cancer screening, this building underwent an unexpected transformation during the war. Indeed, it was used as a refuge for Spanish refugees, providing a haven of peace amid the turmoil of that dark era.

However, with the passage of time and the evolution of medical and social needs, the Wysteria Retirement Home was gradually abandoned. The late 1970s marked the beginning of its decline, as newer, more modern, and better-equipped retirement facilities emerged in the Toulouse metropolitan area.

Today, the Wysteria estate remains frozen in time, its corridors once filled with care and solidarity now echoing with silence. The windows bear witness to past lives, but years of abandonment have left their mark on the crumbling walls and the once lush gardens.

Yet, despite its obsolescence, the Wysteria Retirement Home retains a mysterious charm, attracting urban explorers and curious individuals seeking forgotten stories. It is a place where the past blends with the present, where every room tells a story, and where the atmosphere steeped in nostalgia invites reflection on the passage of time and the fate of abandoned places.
