The Château de Fruminet, a true emblem of Picardy and Île-de-France, is a must-see place for urbex enthusiasts, although it is located in an area where many other sites abound, each with its own charm and level of preservation.
Built in 1865 by a major industrialist in the region, this castle was quickly requisitioned by the French army to house artillery regiments. During the great wars, it even served as a prison, a past that has long marked it. In 1947, it was transformed into an administration center for the former neighboring prison.
Later, it was used as a training and catering center for prison guards. However, in 2004, it was abandoned, as was the neighboring detention center, which was partially demolished. In 2010, a devastating fire ravaged the castle, prompting the municipality to acquire it. Despite this, it remains abandoned and open to all intrepid explorers.
