MIRANDA CASTLE

Miranda Castle, also known as Noisy Castle, is a neo-Gothic building erected in the 19th century in Celles, Belgium. Commissioned by the Liedekerke-Beaufort family, who had left their previous residence, Vêves Castle, during the French Revolution, its construction was entrusted to the English architect Milner in 1866.

The building, which had remained vacant since 1991, had fallen into a state of advanced disrepair. Although the municipality of Celles offered to take over the building, the family declined. The structure has now been demolished.

Occupied by the same family until the Second World War, the castle was then taken over by the National Railway Company of Belgium (NMBS), which used it as an orphanage. It continued to operate as an orphanage until 1980.
