JULIA FAZEKAS SANATORIUM

The Julia Fazekas Sanatorium, built in 1908 as a private hospital, evolved in the second half of the 1950s into a center specializing in the treatment of respiratory illnesses, initially reserved for men. Subsequently, it transformed into a specialized medical center offering radiology, internal medicine, and surgery services, while remaining dedicated to pulmonology.

SANATROIUM JULIA FAZEKAS

Three years later, the Julia Fazekas Sanatorium was integrated into the intercommunal hospital center of the larger neighboring urban area, before finally being permanently transferred a few years later. Closed for nearly 30 years, it now awaits conversion into housing.

On site, we observed that surveyors had already marked out and demarcated the future plots. Let's hope this project comes to fruition, as this old sanatorium nearly rose from the ashes once before when a project to transform it into a luxury hotel, though well advanced, was never completed.
